Make A healthy Work From Home Environment
Covid-19 had a huge impact on each living and non-living thing on the planet. We started doing things we thought we would never do. Wearing masks all the time, sanitizing ourselves every time we go out, walking 6 feet apart at least and several other measures were taken to control the spread of the virus. One of those measures was working from home. The world that was brought to a halt by the virus slowly started picking up pace. Working from became the silver lining to ponder upon even after the spread of the virus was controlled.
The pros of working from home were too significant to be ignored, for many it meant spending more time around their loved ones and less time commuting for a job. . A culture that was enforced on people became a blessing in disguise. There were some cons to working from home and people who were new to it found it rather difficult to adjust to this hectic lifestyle. but those cons can be turned into pros with a good ethic and a routine work culture and several tips we are about to share in this blog.
Creating A Designated Workplace
Take it from someone who has been freelancing for the better part of their lives. Creating a workplace can boost productivity manyfold. A designated area will keep your mind from draining its energy into distractions. I have set my workstation by using a table in front of a beautiful view of the sunset that brings me joy every time the sunset. However, I used blinds to make it through the day. But the sun exposure is necessary to the state of mind and increases your productivity by alerting the mind that it`s time to stay up.
Lying in bed or sitting in a chair with your legs extended out might sound luxurious, however, it is equally injurious and poses a greater threat to your back than you might think.
Keep Personal Out Of Professional
A phrase that is commonly thrown in the conversation, but I got to realize the importance of it by working at home. Drawing the line between timings and engaging family members or friends during work hours is a big NO! Not only does it affects the flow of thought but also disturbs your work cycle, killing productivity and efficiency.
If you are working in a shared space with your roommates or friends, this is a conversation you need to have. Brief each about your schedule beforehand to avoid any interruptions. You can ask them for occasional help to discourage interruptions from happening.
Schedule Your Breaks
Staring at the screen for continuously four-five hours can leave you feeling exhausted and mentally drained. It is essential to move around a bit and take short breaks every couple of hours. To keep the blood rushing and keep yourself active all those tiring work hours. The trick of the trade is taking 10 mins of a break at least for every couple of hours you work. Not only do the brakes feel well deserved but also increase the overall efficiency and give you the ability to think clearly.
Keep Your Head High
Working all by yourself and not having the chance of chatting or being interrupted by your colleagues might sound intriguing at first. But, the effect is not long-lasting and wears out quickly. Soon it`s just you, your coffee mug, and your laptop screen. It is important to keep your head high at these times and keep track of your motivation level. Bring Nature Inside
So what the covid has restrained you inside your houses. The workplace you have created for yourself will keep you occupied. However, staying in touch with nature can boost your creativity. Bring a miniature plant or fresh-cut flowers to your desk to lighten up the mood and add colors to your workstation. I would not recommend going for something that requires extensive care but starting with a low maintenance plant is not a bad idea.
Stay Comfortable
One of the perks of working is you can work however you like to. Unfortunately, many of us do not already have the luxury of a lumbar chair at home but that does not mean you can`t make the spots you have comfortable. Enjoy the quirks of working from home by cozying in a soft blanket or throwing a cushion to support your back.
Create A Theme
Okay, this is not a necessary step, but it speaks to the image you portray of yourself. Instead of your zoom meters looking at blank space or basic paint jobs on the wall. Get creative with the space and hang meaningful yet creative wall art on the wall which speaks to you on a personal level. Take the compliment and thank us later. Need some ideas as to what wall art is good enough? Here are some aesthetics that will become an off conversation topic at your next zoom meeting.
